Payment Configuration

Set up and manage how you receive payments for your content.

Overview

Configure your payment accounts to receive revenue from your educational content. Payments are processed through Stripe, providing secure and reliable transactions.


Accessing Payments

  1. Enter the Educator Console
  2. Click Payments in the sidebar
  3. Configure your payment accounts

Payment Setup

For Individual Educators

Single payment account configuration:

  1. Select Account - Choose your Stripe merchant account
  2. All Revenue - All earnings go to this account

For Platform Educators

Two payment accounts available:

Account TypePurpose
Platform AccountWhere content revenue is deposited
Your Fee AccountYour personal commission (optional)

This allows platforms to:

  • Collect revenue centrally
  • Distribute to individual educators
  • Take platform fees

Adding a Payment Account

Step 1: Connect Stripe

  1. Click Add New Account
  2. Redirected to Stripe onboarding
  3. Complete Stripe verification:
    • Personal/business information
    • Bank account details
    • Identity verification
  4. Return to Cicero

Step 2: Account Verification

Stripe verifies:

  • Identity documents
  • Bank account ownership
  • Business information (if applicable)

Step 3: Account Ready

Once verified:

  • Account appears in dropdown
  • Select for payments
  • Start receiving revenue

Selecting Payment Accounts

Individual Educators

  1. Open Payments page
  2. Click Educator Account dropdown
  3. Select your verified Stripe account
  4. Changes save automatically

Platform Educators

Platform Account (Required):

  1. Click Platform Account dropdown
  2. Select where revenue goes
  3. Only owners can change this

Your Fee Account (Optional):

  1. Click Your Fee Account dropdown
  2. Select your personal account
  3. Receive your commission share

Account Requirements

  • Valid bank account
  • Government ID
  • Proof of address (sometimes)
  • Business registration (for platforms)

How Payments Work

  1. Sale Occurs - User purchases your content
  2. Stripe Processes - Payment captured securely
  3. Funds Available - After processing period
  4. Payout - Transferred to your bank

Access detailed payment information:

  1. Click Stripe Login on Payments page
  2. Opens Stripe Dashboard
  3. View:
    • Transaction details
    • Payout history
    • Account balance
    • Tax documents

Managing Multiple Accounts

Why Multiple Accounts?

  • Separate business entities
  • Different bank accounts
  • Regional requirements
  • Team member payments

Switching Accounts

  1. Open Payments page
  2. Select different account from dropdown
  3. New payments go to new account
  4. Past payments unaffected

Revenue Split (Platforms)

How Splits Work

For platform educators:

  1. Content sale occurs
  2. Platform takes base revenue
  3. Educator fee calculated
  4. Each receives their share

  • Base platform percentage
  • Educator commission rates
  • Payment timing

Troubleshooting

Account Not Verified

  • Complete all Stripe requirements
  • Upload requested documents
  • Contact Stripe support
  • Allow verification time

Payments Not Showing

  • Check Dashboard for transactions
  • Verify account is selected
  • Review Stripe for details
  • Contact support

Payout Delayed

  • Check Stripe payout schedule
  • Verify bank details correct
  • Review for holds or issues
  • Contact Stripe support

Can't Add Account

  • Clear browser cache
  • Try incognito mode
  • Check Stripe eligibility
  • Verify location supported
